How Do I Get My Xbox Controller To Work

broken image

I bought FS19 and found it extremely difficult to drive around with my mouse and keyboard, so based on videos I have watched to learn how to play FS19 I discovered it is much easier to play FS19 with the Xbox controller. I bought a PDP Deluxe wired Xbox one controller and I cannot get it to work. I have windows 10, I have the latest drivers for the controller and I downloaded an app for the PDP controller to help me set it up. So when I plug the controller into the port on the front of my computer and attach the cable to the controller, I do get power, because a white light at the top of the controller goes on, and I am able to do a few things on my computer using the pdp controller hub app, like calibrate the controller, but I cannot get all the buttons to show active which is another test in the hub app. So it does seem to talk to my computer somewhat, I do have the latest Xbox controller drivers, my computer is up to date on Microsoft updates, but it will not work in the game. Of course I only tried it for a tutorial, that MAY make a difference, I do not know. And one more thing that makes me think it is not connected or set up correctly is the circular Xbox jewel at the top and just underneath the white power light does not light up, as I believe it should if I am connected to the computer.

You can do some troubleshooting steps to see if you can fix your controller to work again. Check the batteries. Remove the current batteries you're using and see if the Xbox One controller turns. So when I plug the controller into the port on the front of my computer and attach the cable to the controller, I do get power, because a white light at the top of the controller goes on, and I am able to do a few things on my computer using the pdp controller hub app, like calibrate the controller, but I cannot get all the buttons to show.

Anyway, the bottom line is I have Windows 10, my computer is up to date, the drivers for the controller are the latest, and when I plug the controller into the port in the front of my computer, the computer at first did give me a message that I was attaching the controller, so the computer recognized it. Maybe I just have the settings in the game wrong for an Xbox controller? Should I use a port in the back of my computer? if I have an open one. The man I bought it from at the store told me that with windows 10, all I needed to do was plug it in and away I go. However, as I said, it does not seem to work at all in FS19. I plug the controller in, run the game, and even though I press all the buttons, use the joystick pedestals, nothing seems to happen, I have tried putting the person into the tractor and pushing all the buttons again but nothing happens and I bought the controller specifically because everyone said it was so much easier to drive the tractor with a controller as opposed to mouse and keyboard.
Can anyone help me please? If I cannot get the controller to work, I will bring it back and practice until I can drive using the keyboard and mouse, which as of now, since I am new to FSanything..I am all over the lot and find doing farm chores very difficult, thus the controller.
Pls help me if you can, thank you all and sorry for the long post.
Edit don_apple: topic moved from ‚General Discussion‘ to ‚Technical Support‘, since this is more abozt a technical issue than a general game related issue.

Once upon a time, Microsoft didn't support its own controllers on its own PC platform. You needed hacked drivers and workarounds to use the excellent Xbox One controller with PC games. That's no longer the case, with official drivers built right into Windows 10. So, while it's easy to do, there's more to it than just plugging it in. Here's a complete guide.
